Warwick vs Nottingham
Hi guys,
I would really appreciate some advice on the following: I have received the following two offers:
- BSc Economics at the uni of Nottingham
- BA Philosophy at Warwick university
My aim is to break into Investment banking, as I understand it, Warwick is ranked as a significantly higher target uni than Notts. With that being said, I’m fairly concerned about my chances of landing internships from a philosophy degree (even at Warwick), it may be possible to switch course when enrolling at Warwick but I can’t make a decision based on the chance of that happening.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Warwick isn’t a significantly higher target than Nottingham. If you consider it a target university, it’s the least targeted out of the ‘target’ universities it’s somewhat of the bridge between a semi-target and a target. Nottingham is a strong semi-target. University degree does not matter much for IB recruitment. I’d personally go for Warwick if you’re set on IB as it has a slightly stronger IB finance culture, more industry connections / alumni, higher ranking in general. Be careful however because since you are studying a Philosophy degree, you’ve probably cut down a lot of other potential career paths outside of IB.
yea id say people who do philosophy at targets usually go towards law rather than finance in my experience but still both options are good enough
What? I would thought that Warwick is a target school, not a bridge between a target and a semi-target.
I wouldn't think that Warwick is any less targeted than UCL for example.
