Waterloo math dd Vs Waterloo CFM Vs McGill Desautels (Business undergraduate in Canada)
Hi WSO!
I'm currently considering which offer I should accept:
1. Math&Business Administration double degree （Waterloo base）
2. Math&Business Administration double degree （Laurier base）
3. Computing and Financial Management (U of Waterloo)
4. McGill Desautels B.Com
I'm interested in computer science, business and math. My goal is to find a good career in finance especially in America which could combine those areas together.
Pros for McGill: Good reputation, many renowned alumni, target school, great opportunities to exchange.
Pros for Waterloo: 2-year valuable coop work experience in different companies.
WSO!! Can you give me advice on choosing the offer? :)
Also, do you know any career path options for the graduates from these programs?
I would love all opinions and comments about the schools!

If you're interested in tech-biz hybrid roles, go to Waterloo CS.
if you're interested in high finance (IB/PE/HF/VC) and MBB consulting go to Ivey/Queen's/McGill.
You're going to have to narrow down what you really want if you want more advice.
I know of a lot of people from Laurier/Waterloo who have had some unbelievable co-ops which have converted to full-time jobs in IB, MBB, and Canadian pension plan PE.
While McGill is a target school, there is nothing to say that you can't get the same positions from Laurier/Waterloo through extensive networking and taking advantage of off-cycle internships.
I will say though, It's tough to know what you want to do for the rest of your life when choosing a university. I personally thought I wanted to be an engineer full-time in high school, then pivoted to finance once I got to university. I'm definitely a big supporter of choosing programs that give optionality moving forward, so if you have any interest in computer science whatsoever I think it would be hard to pass up Waterloo/Laurier.
