What schools should I apply to for this full ride program (Questbridge)? IB
This program is for low income first gen kids which provides you with full rides to the top school you rank. I can rank 12 schools Obviously I know I can rank ivys first but they are so random I would perter a school that's not a ivy so I have a better chance of acceptance And also a school which has a location similar to New York This is the list of schools
Amherst College Boston College Bowdoin College Brown Univeristy California Institute of Technology Carleton College Claremont McKenna College Colby College Colgate University Colorado College Columbia University Dartmouth College Davidson College Duke University Emory University Grinnell College Hamilton College Haverford College Macalester College MIT Northwestern University Oberlin College Pomona College Princeton University Rice University Scripps College Stanford University Swarthmore College Tufts University University of Chicago University of Notre Dame University of Pennsylvania University of Southern California University of Virginia Vanderbilt University Vassar College Washington and Lee University Washington University in St. Louis Wellesley College Wesleyan University Williams College Yale University
Yale, UVA, Vanderbilt, Penn, UChicago, Stanford, Princeton, Northwestern, MIT, Duke, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Brown (in no particular order) should be must haves on your list. I've heard of this program, however I'm not sure if this program works with respect to guaranteeing you into a school. Like if you choose 12 will you be placed in one of the twelve assuming you're already selected as a QB finalist?
I did this program and am at Columbia now. Basically, with the exception of Yale, Stanford, Princeton, and MIT, you must attend the highest school on your list which accepts you. If you don’t get “matched” in this round (early December) some schools let you push to Early Decision/Action. That’s what I did, I didn’t get matched but then pushed my app to ED for Columbia and got in. It’s a great program for many reasons, one being that it gives you that extra admissions round before ED. Also there are more essays, so more opportunity there.
So to clarify, you didn't get matched with any of the 12 schools. And also remind me again when ED results usaully come out at schools. Isn't it like mid December? So basically if you dont get matched by early December you have a week to decide asap if you want to push for ED/EA at another school. Obviously they would've read your application again so I guess it makes picking you easier.
Order is REALLY important, the top school you rank is the you get matched with the top one. If you are a finalist, then you get a chance to write essays for that school, then you get matched. It's also binding so u can't change at all
I’d really avoid CalTech. People there were weird and it doesn’t have much alums in finance.
At one of Dartmouth/Yale but I can confirm that both have a ton of QB kids who are all great people & have a great community. Especially if you're into finance, would absolutely make sure those are on there.
what about the city? like it's very small right?
Dartmouth is in the boonies, Yale is in the bustling metropolis of New Haven
New Haven is essentially Gotham. Scary as shit.
No it's not lmao. New Haven is a mediocre city, I'm not hyping it up, but it's a typical mediocre American small city.
