What's more prestigious: Professor or Investment Banker?
I'm trying to decide what career to pursue long-term between being a STEM professor at a top university, and being an investment banker. If you met someone at a party, which title would impress you more?
No disrespect here, but if impressing others is the main factor, why limit to just these two options?
Professor
You are going to be absolutely miserable in both if you are only looking at how other people view you - more important question here is whether you like to teach or like the idea of advising clients on M&A/financing activities.
I would say the professor would impress people more. But only because the investment banker is at home making love to his vodka bottle.
