Why is everyone so obsessed with minor rankings differences?

I get that prestige matters but guys once you get into to a top school it's all about your grades/networking.Obviously target schools are better than non targets but there's no point in spending hours debating "Georgetown vs Notre Dame" or "UMich vs UVA" when in reality either school will get you to where you want to go.If you're deciding between similar ranked schools, you should choose the one you like better (fit, location, fun, etc…) rather than analyzing which school has a 2% higher EB placement rate.
