Will I be ok without a summer internship pre MSF given I already have IB/F500 internship experience?
So I am headed to a top US MSF directly after undergrad in the Fall. I am currently wrapping up a 5 month long internship for a regional boutique bank, in which I had excellent exposure to the day to day IB work. I've also had a F500 corp fin internship abroad previously. I'll be graduating from a non-target with a BBA in Finance with a 3.8~ GPA.
I've been searching hard for a summer spot, but nothing is locked in yet. Do you think having had IB and Corp Fin experience already, I will be fine for MM IB recruiting given the school is a feeder? I have some leads for random summer spots, but they are in asset management and other non-directly related fields, and honestly I'd rather just spend the ~2 months in between graduation and starting my MSF with my family rather than doing an unrelated internship.
Can you extend the 5month internship into the summer?
Yes, I could extend through the end of June, which would make it 6 months and only have July off, which is when I will be moving. Do you think this would be a good call?
I have a solid lead for a summer regional IB analyst spot at another shop, but the MD is a bit flaky and additionally got an offer for an investment analyst position for a portfolio management position that manages research for large trusts and tech companies.
Do you think I'd make sense to go with the ladder? Would either of these be better than nothing in your opinion?
