applying online - Recruiter?

For those of you who heard back from a recruiter after sending in an application online, how long did it take. I sent in a bunch of resumes over a week ago and haven't heard anything yet. Am I being too impatient?

Applying online at any financial institution is a complete waste of time. You'll never hear back. Spend that time talking with employees of the firms you want to work at.

At my company and other corporate finance (non-IB) gigs, applying online is slightly less wasteful but you better have a resume with the exact keywords the software on the other side is looking for, or your resume will never reach the eyes of a recruiter.

If you're currently mixing in networking and applying, just apply online and if you have no one you can follow up with, move on and don't expect to hear. back.

I actually don't agree with Storib... a majority of my interviews / offers came from applying online. Every once and awhile I would have an employee referral, but for the most part I applied online.

It can take anywhere from 2 days to a month to hear back from a company. Just keep applying to new jobs every day and don't stop til you get that offer letter.

I do agree that networking will definitely make a difference, so do try to network like crazy too.
