Asking For Time off From Prop Trading Firm So I Can Go to Flow Traders Summer Business Course
Would it be unreasonable to ask for time off in the 2nd week (Thursday and Friday) so that I can go to the Flow Traders Summer Business Course. I would really want to work at Flow Traders full-time, but given I would be currently interning at a prop firm, would it be fine to ask for 2 days off early on (obviously I wouldn't say it's to go to the Business Course.) Thanks for your input!
its called vacation...or sick days
As an intern would it be acceptable and not viewed as suspicious?
You could always make up an excuse - ie medical urgency/funerals across the country or something. Especially if you do not intend to return to this firm.
Better to wait until then to say its an emergency than preemtively telling the recruiter I have a prior obligation?
yes
generally speaking...its not ok to do what you are suggesting...so you need to either hide it...or don't do it.
It doesn't look good, that's all I have to say and if you take two days off, chances are you're gonna need a note in case you say it's medical related.
Why are people so obsessed working at flow? There are many great firms out there. I want to hear your response and don't give me a generic answer.
I still haven't experienced much of most prop firms, but their culture seems very fun and chill (work hard play hard), a lot of young people, and seemingly less pressure/turnover than places like Optiver while still having top tier compensation and an awesome office, plus being in New York seems nice.
If my incoming intern this summer asks for Thursday and Friday off in the second week of his internship he's not getting a return offer. I'll know whats up now
lol.....same
Lol I would literally look over at the senior trader next to me and make that "right..." face.
Flow trading? Not afraid of algos, eh?
Have you been accepted to the Flow Traders Business Course this summer? I just had my mental math test! Do you know what is the cutoff is? Or how did you perform on that?
