Automated Trading (Algo) Strategist Interview

Hi,

I have a first round interview for an "automated trading strategist" role within rates, so fx forwards and swaps are the product to be traded.

The job posting requires programming language of some sort (C++, Java, VBA, etc...), but it also says finance/trading experience is not required. It also has an emphasis on machine learning, statistics, etc...

I'm coming from fixed income trading, and don't necessarily have any professional experience programming, so I don't really know how to approach this one.

Please help with anything I need to be studying beforehand thank you

If it says “automated” or “strategist” in the title, it’s likely within the electronic/algo trading space, thus, requiring a quantitative background and programming skills.

But, hey if you got the interview invite, they must have liked your background :) I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Curious though, which product were you trading previously?

(Side note - I’m not a rates person, but FX swaps/forwards should belong to FX, in my opinion?)

Good luck for the interview!!!
