BB S&T SA aiming for BB Quant FT: Is it Possible?

Would it be possible to Intern as an S&T SA, and get a return offer on a Quantitative/Algorithmic team? I am a Math & Statistics major, with decent experience in R/Python/C++. For some reason HR moved me to the regular S&T program than the Quant one, but I'm still hoping to get some experience on Quantitative/Algo-driven desks.

Anyone who has worked/interned in S&T, trader or quant, have comments/advice on how to make the jump?
