Bloomeberg knowledge for S&T intern

As per the title, how much of Bloomberg am I expected to know going into the internship? What are the more commonly used functions that I should be familiar with? I still have some time before summer so I'd like to get more comfortable with using the interface.

If it is relevant, the desk I'm joining trades commodities. Thank you!

Live help is your best friend. Also, remember it’s a tool with almost endless uses. Just be curious and try to find things that are helpful by playing around on it. If your desk requires you to use certain functions to pull data they will tell you/you can ask a fellow analyst

As an intern, you're not going to be expected to know much barring the prerequisites they make clear they want you to know.

Bloomberg is like riding a bicycle - you just get better at it with more time and exposure to it, only so much you can "study" ahead of. F1 (Live Help) will probably be your most commonly used function. The Terminal also offers lot of educational seminars on many different functions that you can sign up for free. It's really going to depend which products you're trading but for example when I worked with equities, I used "GP" price graph, "HP" historical prices, "CN" company news, "GIP" intraday/time series analysis, to name a few of many thousands of functions. You'll get the feel for it in no time. F9, GLCO are your go-to for commodities: https://my.lerner.udel.edu/wp-content/uploads/BB-Commodities.pdf

Don't sweat about knowing this thing ahead of time. What you can do is be attentive, ask a lot of questions, take notes, and just absorb everything you can.
