Breaking into Physical Trading
Hi everyone,
I’m keen to get into the physicals space however I live in Australia where there’s no major trading houses offering graduate programs. I graduated with a pure mathematics degree from a T20 university and have done a BBIB DCM internship. I’m currently in a graduate program at an oil major in their Supply team but the trading that happens in Australia is very small and mostly focused on refined fuels. I’m keen to get into a more aggressive trading role such as those within BP or Trafigura where there are opportunities to have global exposure. Is there any way to break into these kind of roles in the entry level? My current plan is to transfer to the trader programs after 4-5 years of experience.
