Can a trader specialize in more than one product?

I have the opportunity to join the Rotational Analyst program of a top BB - that program allows you to spend your first two years on two different desks. Is it useful/possible for a young trader to specialize in two products, or is it better to focus on only one product early on?

Would exit opps to hedge funds be different coming from such an rotational program, as opposed to the usual "one-desk" Analyst program?
