Commodity Insights Commercial Graduate Program Thoughts?

Have an interview coming up for this. Was curious what exit oops may be possible in the future.

Role will be sales for S&P Insights where I’ll learn how to use their products and also develop strong knowledge of commodity markets.

Post program placements: • Regional Sales • New Business • Analytical Sales • Client Services

I was thinking sales (S&T) later on maybe? IB within commodity related coverage groups? Any thoughts will be very appreciated!

For commodities, it’s a consulting and research firm that publishes reports and has some data offerings.  Has nothing to do with investment banking or selling financial products for a bank.  Within commodities trading, in my view, S&P does not have a particularly good reputation even for their research department and I’m not sure you will learn anything meaningful about “how markets work” not being in their research department.   Anyone that I’ve interacted with there frankly seemed like they have no idea what they are doing and get by by being as vague as possible.  No presentation I’ve seen has been able to articulate any useful trade ideas.  They are known for paying bottom of the barrel for analysts so anyone who can leaves to any commercial trader.  Would not recommend unless you have no better options.
