Commodity Trading: Switching from Crude Trading to LNG - potentially other fossil-based Commodities
Hello,
I am about to start a job in physical commodity trading for a NOC in London. Most likely I will be either on the crude or the products desk. My question would be if 5-7 years down the line, if would be possible to switch to trading LNG, or pipeline gas? Or even possibly going into metals trading? How often to we see such transition in the trading industry?
Thanks!
Not impossible but will require lots of networking. It would be more difficult if you worked at a shop dedicated only to crude/oil products trading versus working at a shop that trades in a variety of different commodities. Some ex Noble guys I know started in Metals and later moved to Oil.
