Corporate Derivatives?

I have a question about Corporate Interest Rate Derivatives Sales/Marketing. I interviewed at one bank for this position and they sat on the S&T floor, however, the function of what they do seems to be somewhere between IBD and Capital Markets. I have searched a bit throughout this site and have found mixed reviews of where this desk actually sits. So my question is where within a bank does this group work?

Also, in general, what is the long term outlook for these types of desks? I appreciate all responses. Thanks.
