Desk analyst/ strategist

What are thoughts on these teams as a entry level job. Are they looked at as second tier to traders or normal research since it does not seem revenue generating? Lot of people I see doing this on LinkedIn are old, what could career progression be on the younger side. Opportunity at hand is IG Debt desk strategist.

Guy I talked to at a BB said he was able to move from Desk Strategist to a full trading role so could give you good exposure to the desk as well as know-how about their product. That being said it's not a guaranteed way but definitely seen people make the move to a full-time position from Desk Strategist but it's going to take a bit.

i started as a desk analyst / strategist...was in that role for 2-3 years...helping traders on the desk turn ideas into tangible things (writing code) and then got a seat as a trader....was VP within a couple years after i started trading...this is very common.

just google it...you're welcome
