Do any sales and trading internship opportunities or jobs with similar skill sets exist for non-diversity sophomores? I heard there were no S&T boutiques but what about brokers?

I have a friend working at DB as a Sales & Trading Summer Analyst on the Rates and IC desk as a Sophomore with a return offer as well.
How did they do it? On the website it says that the program is only for juniors. Did they do it through dbAchieve or another diversity program?
It is for this year 2021, so maybe COVID backed up the applications and they have more than enough people eligible for Summer Analyst roles that there are no longer Sophomore Positions for certain banks in 2022? Not sure, but it was the typical application
