E-commerce desk?

Hi all,

I have an interview with a BB for fixed income trading e-commerce desk. But I have little idea on what the e-commerce desk is and what are they doing everyday....

Could anyone give me some insightful idea on what exactly it is? Really appeciate for your inputs!

It's one of those loosely defined departments. I worked in that dept at my old firm. It was selling the bank's trading platform, market data, execution, etc.

Hope that helps. At the least it should give you a bit clearer understanding. You're probably interviewing for a spot to sell their execution platform to hedge funds, mutual funds, etc.

depending on which BB you will work for, E-commerce business can be either a very good sales desk or a mediocre one as some platforms are more popular than the others.

Hey all, dredging this up because I am interested in an FI ecommerce position at a BB. The description says front office ecommerce team, but it sounds more like project\product management rather than some type of trading/sales role. Does anyone here work in such a group? What kind of product or client exposure would it entail? Or would it be more of an internal strategy position?
