Goldman Sachs Canada

Just got curious about BBs in different regions. So let's start from GS. I understand GS has 2 offices in Canada - one in Toronto and one in Calgary. And I also understand that most of its businesses in Canada are IB-related. I'm not really familiar with up north, and just want to ask if anyone know if they have S&T or research up there too? And how is Toronto office different from Calgary? Thanks in advance.

That sounds very sad...

it is dude. investment banking is non-existent in canada (especially toronto - and for that pop size too, i think its like the 4th largest city in NA after nyc, la, chicago. energy trading perhaps in calgary but nothing else.

kalgaThey only try to work on the big deals, I can only think of 2 M&A they have worked on in the last 2 years (Calgary). Theres a little bit of debt thrown in there.

What about their sales and trading, research areas? Do they only have investment banking there?

GS trades physical natural gas and oil in Calgary.

all those damn regulations. but you know we (in toronto) didn't really have a recession and housing prices are still going up :P so.... :) but bad for grads like me who have to come to the states :P

also BofA has a huge office in toronto, but no IBD only IT shit.

btw, it is still THE city in Canada. lol.
