Graduating at 25 from undergrad...how much of a handicap for trading recruitment?
How much of a handicap will graduating at 24/25 from an undergrad program be for recruitment in a sales & trading position?
Not adding any specifics on schooling on purpose (read enough bs on it)
thanks
I know a guy who graduated at 27 and got 3 BB offers. Not sure if this is normal, but he didn't seem to have an issue. In fact, he insisted it was easier because he already had work experience and could network at bars/clubs without being "that drunk kid" or using a fake ID.
If your history in college and your first job is 'okay' then you should be fine. Lot's of people have secured jobs at 28+ so definitely possible. What I've also observed is that when you join as a fresher analyst people will assume you know nothing (just like they do for students who join programmes at 21-22) but you are that guy with little bit of extra maturity.
Not bad at all. I started in S&T at around age 31 (almost 32) years old. So what. I have a JD. People see you as more mature.. It's actually a better feel.
I graduated when I was 25 as well (enlisted 4 years then went to undergrad). Am now 26 and first job out of undergrad is S&T. I don't think it matters much at all. Both places I went to (boutique internship and now MM), I was the youngest by far. The next youngest guy here is 36 and at the boutique must have been 31-32. So whether you are 25 or 22 you will still probably be younger than most. At 25 you will be older than the other junior kids, which may actually put you at an advantage if you play it right.
