Hedge Funds versus Bank Trading - Bonuses versus Total Compensation
When trading at a bank is it standard to be paid a percentage of your book as total compensation or do you receive a percentage of your book as a bonus? I know at hedge funds your salary is treated as an expense and subtracted out of your bottom line, but do banks operate in the same fashion e.g. at a bank if you get paid "5%" is your total compensation 5% or is that just your bonus?
