helpful insight?

So I graduated in '06 have worked for the last year with a respected international company based in Chicago (think insurance). The position I took actually is somewhat impressive, as I manage/have developed a program for all of our domestic branches. That said, I just gave my notice and am moving to NY....why you ask....I want to pursue a job in Sales. I dont know where to start the process of securing employment. I am hoping I get some feedback on how I should identify and approach prospective groups or what I should be looking for. I went to a well regarded liberal arts college, didn't study finance but am quantitatively competent. I am very hungry/ambitious and excited to work hard. I am not worried about making a fortune the first couple of years however I'd like a position that would reward hardwork, success and provide a place to grow and branch out. I look forward hearing the suggestions people have for my situation.
