Helping out a friend
So during my search for a SA in trading this summer (which was fruitful) I made plenty of contacts in multiple cities. Now, one of my good friends from high school, who I still keep in touch with, but is in another city at another school, has not found an internship yet. I know he's a smart kid and know several alums from my school in his area. Should I recommend him or not bother?
Most of the alums that I know I contacted through our alumni database, so I'm wondering if it would come off as weird if I was like, "Thanks for your help, I have a friend who lives in your area who is working for an internship in your area. Would you mind talking with him and possibly giving him some ideas or pointers?", or if there is a better way to do this.
Thanks in advance.
Help him, it always pays to help people - if they make it they'll remember you
I've done it for peers of mine. As long as they're not in direct contention with you for the same jobs
