How do folks view boot camps?

I’ve seen a lot of guys go to programming boot camps as well as do part time masters in math / cs. I’ve also seen people do udacity nano degrees and obtain other similar micro-qualifications. How is this viewed by trading firms / prop funds?

I have done a boot camp a long time ago when I was still a grad student. It was organized by an external company (some trading co that wanted exposure on campus) and was co-sponsored by the local economy dept. and the professor/lectors. it was also subsidized from a cost perspective.

I learned quite a few things, but it wasn't aimed at making you a professional trader or anything. Would do it again, if more advanced and if I had some insight what was taught (online, presumably).
