How Long Until One starts actually taking risk as Trader?

I was wondering how long until you actually start taking risk as a trader--> avg time to get a book. Would be great to hear about someones timeline. I just want to be at a place where I know I can have the opportunity to be trading within a year or two and not have to wait 3-4 years of doing just operational work.

Just gonna depend on the shop - I’ve heard some places let you start taking risk between 6-12 months. It took me 2 years to get my book, but covid probably had an impact on that.
