How to become an options trader/ macro trader/ fx trader at a bb
Are there any paths at the masters or mba level, what kind of background do you require, is previous personal trading experience viewed favourably if you have in depth knowledge about order flow, greeks, market making and liquidity ?
Also not limited by geography (in my country these roles are very few and are usually given to graduates from 3 particular universities)
MFE/CS/STEM master's have paths directly into S&T associate or Derivatives/Pricing Quants at Banks. I think JPM or MS had one role specifically wanting STEM MS students. They'll put you on the derivatives desk.
Previous personal trading is viewed neutrally or poorly. There's nothing you did strategy-wise that would apply to managing 8-10 figure book of derivatives risk, and if you did - you wouldn't be applying for the role; you would be retired.
Checked linkedin and saw the MIT Mfin and the Princeton Mfin place well in s&t, can you suggest any other universities ?
