How to leverage trading job into moving back into NYC area

Hello fellow monkeys,

I've just recently started a job at one of the most respected prop trading firms in Chicago. I'm learning tons of new material every day and thoroughly enjoy what I'm learning/doing. However, due to several circumstances I need to move back to the greater NYC/Philadelphia area in the next year or so. I was wondering what steps I should be taking as I forecast this change in the future and how I can position myself to land a job before moving back home. I feel like with my credentials it shouldn't be that difficult to find a new job but I've heard leveraging a prop trading job into another job is tough. In an ideal world I would want to join a hedge fund that is involved with trading but would settle for any general finance related job as well as I just graduated this past year. I would appreciate anyones advice on the subject.
