How would you go about this idea?

I've got a concept that i came up with while working at my old company (no issue with who owns it, trust me, it was an idea that popped into my head while looking at a screen).

It revolves around information, rather than a particular strategy based on prices etc., and its logically sound (have run it past some reliable contacts). I dont know enough programming yet to build it, and I'd like to work on it as part of a team (for fairly obvious reasons). I'm happy to reveal it to an interviewer, pending some form of agreement that if they pursue it they take me on.

Would you just walk up to a Prop firm and pitch it now? Or learn a bit more first so im more credible etc. If anyone reading this works at a company that likes new ideas who can put a good light on how you'd do this. It's not just a strategy that the market will adjust to in a few weeks then i look silly. It's certainly scalable, and will go the distance (if they agree with the logic of it, they're all in the same basket). I expect everyone to be skeptical about this, but treat it as if i'm not barking crazy and a bit of advice.

Thanks !
