So I am filling out an online application for the HSBC global markets summer internship and in one section they have they all these competency short answer questions (e.g. "Describe a time when you have presented a persuasive argument ....." or "Describe a time when you have successfully solved a challenging problem or overcome a difficult situation using your initiative...."). I am wondering is anyone actually going to read these answers or is it just another hoop to jump through?
HR at HSBC is so retarded that I sincerely doubt they can read at all.
No one is going to read it unless you're going to be brought in for an interview, and even then, no hiring manager is going to read it. As such, your 'audience' is (at most) one 25-35 year-old HR girl.
