IB - S&T Lateral

Hello fellow monkeys,

To preface, I just finished up a summer analyst position at a MM Investment bank. I have a return offer, but really didn't find the work interesting or fulfilling (definitely not enough to give up my life for 2-3 years as an analyst). My roommate is doing S&T at a BB, and I am deeply considering trying to make the switch. This is very much going back to the drawing board so to say. I have a few questions laid out below:

1. How reasonable is it to make a switch from MM IB to S&T?

2. What desks are generally protected against automation?

3. How do I handle the "you couldn't take the IB hours" type questions when networking/interviewing?

Any thoughts on the above or S&T recruiting in general would be appreciated. Thanks in advance monkeys.
