If these banks get bought out by investors.. not government?
So amid all the hysteria going on right now with banks going under and firesale of assets and such, I was wondering IF banks like Wachovia and Washington Mutual get bought out by say JP Morgan, (apparently jim cramer thinks jp morgan should buy WM) hypothetically, would WM shares jump up?
If so, why or why not?
Hard question to answer due to the convoluted nature of their assets. It all depends on what the "market" value of their assets are worth at this point. This may provoke a bid premium to the stock price. Also, the bank's liquidity and capital availability will help determine whether or not needs a takeover.
