Info Services/Media Company Analyst -> Energy Trading Analyst Desk?

Hi all, I was wondering if anybody has transitioned from a fundamentals/consulting analyst role at an info services or media company (Think Dow Jones, Argus, S&P, LSEG) for a specific commodity to a supermajor or BB in a trading analyst role. Supply/demand modeling, scenario analysis, market outlook reports, etc.

I especially want to pursue a trading analyst desk at a supermajor, such as BP or Shell because of focus on physical trading and vast network building potential. I have seen lots of roles open up at some of our clients, but it feels risky to talk with clients about career ops while being more junior at my current role. I love energy commodities, and would be happy to live, eat, and breath them while being in a real trading team.

Happy to connect with people in Houston and talk about my experience if anybody has an opening they need to fill in on their team. Otherwise, would like to know more about where a lot of you energy traders come from.

Thanks
