Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights on recruiting for Sales & Trading (S&T) at Jefferies:

  1. Recruitment Timeline:

    • Recruitment for summer analyst positions typically starts early, often a year in advance. Keep an eye on application deadlines and networking events.
  2. Networking:

    • Networking is crucial. Attend Jefferies' events, reach out to alumni, and connect with current employees on LinkedIn. Building relationships can provide valuable insights and potentially lead to referrals.
  3. Application Process:

    • Ensure your resume and cover letter are tailored to highlight relevant skills and experiences. Emphasize any previous internships, coursework, or projects related to finance, trading, or markets.
  4. Interview Preparation:

    • Be prepared for both technical and behavioral questions. Brush up on market trends, financial instruments, and trading strategies. Practice common behavioral questions to articulate your experiences and fit for the role.
  5. LinkedIn Activity:

    • While you may not see many posts about Jefferies' S&T recruiting on LinkedIn, it doesn't necessarily reflect the level of activity. Many candidates prefer direct applications and networking over public posts.

Really? That’s interesting because I haven’t seen a lot of people posting on LinkedIn. Also asked some of my friends at other unis and they said they also haven’t seen any people from their school get an offer. Are they hiring less people?

From my understanding, Jefferies' S&T is pretty lean. They gave out a few offers already, and their S&T for Houston is done. A few of my friends in the Houston area know a few people with offers there.
