Thought it would be insightful to share JPM's summer analyst class breakdown for 2020:
Total Sales and Trading Analyst Class: 140 (130 of the positions were designated for New York) * Junior Year Summer Analysts: 128 * Senior Year Summer Analysts: 9 * Summer Associates: 3
Top 3 Group Breakdown Trading Based Roles: 40 Sales Based Roles: 24 Research-Based Roles: 21 (12 in Equity Research)
Other Desks Breakdown Equity Roles (of any type): 23 Credit Roles(of any type): 22 Rates Roles (of any type): 14 Derivatives Roles (of any type): 20 Specialized Products Roles (of any type): 11
Note Senior Year Analyst refers to students who just graduated college and will be doing this internship right after senior year.

I think he just listed the different roles/desks, also an intern but I dont know anything about the full time offer spot yet

How common are senior year analysts across big banks?
Most banks don't have a seperate application for senior analyst programs. JPM is one of the few ones that has an application for senior and junior analyst students.
This is the first time I've ever heard of a summer internship after graduation. Is this new?

Even so it looks massive compared to the space we have in Equities in Europe.. At least speaking from what I have seen at our bank and heard from others, the equities space is shrinking I would have also expected more rates
Looks like also in EU we are also moving towards more focus on banking books rather than tb in terms of roles
Why doesn't the top 3 group breakdown add up to 140? I can't imagine there being that many securitization/syndicated finance/lending desk interns to make up for that. Or am I just tripping?
