Laptop recommendations

Hello all,

I am an incoming summer 2024 intern for S&T; I was wondering if I should get a windows laptop or upgrade my MacBook to better prepare for internship and full-time. I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

Work in trading, done SnT internship. I have both Mac and Windows personally.

My recommendation: It doesn't matter. You will use the company laptop anyway. For your personal laptop just use whatever you like/feel comfortable using. Sure maybe it is marginally better experience using excel on Windows and maybe you can argue you will be more used to it by the time you are using company laptop. But are you really buying a personal laptop to "practice excel"?  Fwiw, the MS suite experience on Mac is fine nowadays and a Unix based operating system is good for my coding experience. And I personally probably do 45% excel, 25% Python at work so it helps.

All these is to say: The laptop choice is not gonna provide meaningful difference to "prepare for internship," just pick what you like.

Oh if you like gaming tho pick a nice PC.
