Legit or not?
I was looking at 2nd semester internships and stumbled across a firm named GPS Capital which is headquartered in Utah but is opening a small office in Boston- their first office on the East Coast. From what the guy told me and he seemed very nice, is that they're interested in hiring a few interns to place calls, presumably to raise capital from companies, receive some training in trading, and may actually do some trading? He gave me a rough split at 70-30 as to our time spent doing each task. It was very vague and the office in Boston is quite small which worries me. The one in Utah seems to be large from the website but I'm not sure exactly how worthwhile this internship will be in terms of learning relative skills.
What it comes down to is I'm just not sure whether or not this is another one of those Northwestern type internships where you're just another annoying telemarketer looking for people to invest their money in or a place that uses etrade to day trade etc.
Regardless, here is the website for the firm.
Any help is much appreciated.
I don't see how you'd be able to trade without getting your licenses...
Oh shit... I didn't even realize this when I first read your post, but GPS holds national Trading competitions... we did one through them in my Currency/Forex class... their trading software is pretty legit, don't know about the company itself and what an experience working for them would be like but they seem to me to be a Forex-focused version of eTrade...
