Mechanics of recruiting for S&T

A bit about me but I switched from fundamental long/short to prop trading a few years back. I got introduced to the trading job through a friend. How does recruiting work for finding the next trading gig as an experienced hire?  Are there recruiters? Or If so, what are their names? How does the answer differ for traditional S&T roles at banks vs. the quant / prop firms? (In my case, I am most interested in prop, but I'm not like dogmatic or anything like that.) For long/short I knew who recruiters were but no idea who they are in trading.
