Moving from major to trade shop/merchant?

I'm a junior trader with 2 years of trading experience under my belt and an additional 3 in related, but non-trading areas.

I'm thinking of moving to a trade shop or a merchant due to freedom to pursue what I want, less bureaucracy, and more pay. For cons, I acknowledge the downsides of fragile job security and increased stress.

Do the commodity traders of WSO have any advice for this type of move?
