Networking During S&T SA

Hi, incoming S&T SA at a BB here. I have been wondering about the best practices for networking during my summer, specifically thinking about credit and rates trading desks. Based on your experiences, what would be good times to ask traders to go for a short chat? Seems like most of them will be quite busy until the markets close and have to stay at the desk even during lunchtime. Also, would it be a good idea to start networking with analysts and associates before moving up?

Besides finishing the projects assigned to me, should I spend most of the time shadowing, and what are the best practices for learning from this?

Appreciate your answers!
