Networking with other desks during summer internship

Hi!

I am an incoming Summer Analyst in S&T division for a BB bank.

I got this advice quite often that I need to network with other desks in case the desks I am rotating to have no full time headcount. At the same time, I think a way to showcase you are valuable to a desk is by showing you can complete tasks well, be well-liked, etc. However, If I only get the chance to talk to some people from the other desks, I am not so sure on how to impress them.

Do you guys have any advice on what to talk about when networking with other desks in order to impress them?

Pass the airport test. Be the guy that others want to be with if they get stuck at an airport. Best way to build a connection is to start outside. Not sure how the culture is at your place but go out on a Thursday/Friday. Be likable. Ask about they got to where they are. Show that you are someone who is humble, hardworking and willing to learn. Pray that you are in the right place at the right time. As an intern you dont know shit so definitely dont BS to the FT guys about their market. you dont want to be labelled as the try hard.
