Networking/cold emails during holidays

I'm thinking about lateraling sometime in Q1/Q2 and would appreciate perspective on if it's appropriate to be sending out cold emails and networking right now.

We're kind of in this limbo where folks are either scrambling to close transactions before the new year or things have been pushed to close in 2023. That being said, is it in my best interest to wait till things settle into Q1 or put my foot on the gas and start having conversations ASAP? If you were receiving a cold email sometime over the next week would you be more inclined to answer or ignore it?

I would wait until Jan 4th or so. Give people a day after the holidays to get caught up.

I am all for helping people network and usually am very responsive, but I really don't want to be talking or looking at resumes around the holidays and I usually ignore anything sent in the last two weeks of December

Also sure you're doing this, but in this type of market don't waste time blasting a million cold emails - most places are cutting not hiring so you won't get very far using a broad approach. Only reach out to the groups with active lateral postings
