New guy with a question.
I'm currently a student studying oil and gas engineering. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about finance. I've read multiple times that you should be able to work well with excel and C++ for trading. I can understand excel but why C++? Would any basic programming language be sufficient like say python or is it specifically C++? Why do traders have to have knowledge of a programming language at all? What do they use it for?
Thanks
i think vba and c are the ones that can most easily interact with trading platforms and whatnot.. mind you i have no programming experience really and just kind of throwing this out there but yeah mainly vba and c++.. prolly because of the trader/programmer hybrids that arent pure algo quants VBA and c++ are easiest to pick up? ;)
