Nickeled and Dimed, litterally

I am not a trader by nature, so I wanted to get you guys' opinions on the proposed change for small cap stocks to abandon penny increments for nickel and dimes? I've seen this or similar articles posted numerous places over the last year. It seems to me that all the benefit goes to liquidity which supports the little man. I also find it hard to dole out any sympathy for the HFT guys in this scenario, would it really be as bad as it sounds?
