Offer Received: PIMCO PM Trader SA VS. Barclays S&T SA
Heard back from both PIMCO and Barclays with offers for SA intern for summer 2023, wondering if anyone can give some insights into each of the programs and which one may be better for me. The PIMCO role is under PM team as a Trader SA (Newport Beach), while the Barclays one is in S&T for SArole (NYC Midtown). I am hoping to exit in either quant or HF but not sure which one offers better opportunities.

There’s no better place than Newport Beach in the country.
Worked for a short time in a trading division of a large LO but in equity and would say S&T over that. But for FI trading is fairly different, plus PIMCO and Newport Beach are solid. (Be sure to make some good trips to Fashion Island!)
Seriously? Pimco is one of the top buyside firms out there. Take it and don't look back.
is this execution trading or smth diff? if it's the former isn't that not as desirable as ss trading?
Yeah I was going to say I've been in trading execution and it's better to just be doing SS Trading than like trade completion or portfolio modeling (which is a fancy name for everything that happens before or after a trade)
