Pension Fund Intern -> Institutional Equity Sales

Rising Junior, working for a pension fund this summer as an analyst. Was wondering how relevant my experience working for a large state pension fund would be to an institutional equity sales role? Thinking I may just continue working in the public sector for a year or so after graduating then trying to break into institutional equity sales then if I can't work something out this summer.

In short, does working at a state pension fund as an analyst translate well to institutional equity sales?
