Question about Canadian Risk Factors for the Financial Sector

Hi,

I am beginning my major class in Finance and we have to choose a Sector, find industry specific data that relates to that sector, and then run regressions and make an assessment of our findings...

Since the financial sector is key in Canada, I thought it would be interesting and more relevant than let's say the airline industry (where you pick oil, alluminum as factors for example).

However, for the "Financial Sector", I'm kinda clueless on what those factors would be. And if they can be easily found and worth the work for a small project (worth about 6% of final grade)

For a start, I was thinking to use Canada, us, euro, china, Currency / GDP / Dept / ??? It seems kinda macro though, maybe I'm off?

If anybody could give me their take on the issue it would be really appreciated.

Thanks a lot!
