RUMOR: S&P downgrading US debt after the close

heard this too...apparently originated from a bookie

EarTotheStreetHeard from quite a few traders at various banks and brokers this morning that SP will downgrade after the close today. Anyone hearing this also?

Rumour is coming from the same group that announced yesterday that gold margins will rise.

I heard it to in London.

Is it bullshit?

According to the buzz on Twitter right now, the rumor (?) is coming from BNP Paribas.

If they were gunna do it friday after the close would be the best timing...its a rigged game...

Both rumours are coming from Canary Wharf, too much smalltalk in pubs. I stay liquid next week, just to see the battle "Euro vs. Dollar", trying to collect cash, when pigs get slaughtered.

Didn't Moody's already do this a couple months ago or something? I thought the US had already been knocked down a notch recently.

You really think someone on WSO boards would know about the downgrade before the markets did? Unless the downgrade is already 100% factored in, then I'd say this is BS. S&P stinks, but they're not bad enough to let something of that much importance leak out on a market day.
