Salt Trading?
This question is a deep cut but does anyone here know whether there is a market for seaborne salt trading? I'm not talking paper and screen trading but something along the lines of bauxite/cement where you have a limited amount of sources, ridiculously low FOB costs, and are optimizing with physical swaps?
There is a subsidiary of the French Salins group called "Marine Salt" that seems to fit that description but are Cargill, Morton or Exportadora de Sal trading their cargos?
I assume when you say low FOB costs you mean comparative to other commodities, as OPEX for bauxite, cement, and salt aren’t necessarily low.
Rio Tinto is the largest shipper of salt and extract out of their Dampier Salt mine
