Significance of Trading product

I am wondering how significant is the product you are trading when you want to move to a firm that trades a different product. In other words, if I have experience trading Eurodollars, would another firm that specialize in trading equities or equity options value that experience highly.

Thanks.

You can do it while your young and just starting out (maybe until your late 20's early 30's), but eventually you develop a skill set for a particular product and you get pigeonholed into trading that or similar products. You might be able to move around different fixed income products, but you probably could not go Eurodollar to Equities or something very simple like Equities to a more complex product. I think sales is easier to switch products because its more client focused.
